Character rigging I
Initially I made 2 mock up rigs around the end of January to see what I was going to do wrong and prevent some things so I can get better results. I am extremely happy I did that as when I rigged the characters it went a lot smoother and better.
Both rigs are fairly simple and easy to use which helped me tremendously when animating. His rig is a little more complicated than hers, but her rig ran into the most issues.
I started with preparing my meshes and making all the blendshapes, which were extremely fun to make and use. I ran into slight problems here and there because I had separate meshes.
I wanted to keep the rigs neat and easy to use so I used less controllers. For the little boy I needed to be able to control the hat as well and to be able to make the little pompoms move. I managed to make the pompoms, eyes, eyebrows and facial expressions work exactly the way I wanted and in a way it made me excited to animate them.
